Embodied Intentions...

Picture
I've always loved watching the sunrises and sunsets...they give a deeper meaning to my days.  They are moments where I honor stillness, take the time to set my intentions and pause to remember...
Each morning sky and the sensations I experience are unique.  My practice of waking with the dawn, begins my day with inspiration and connected intention.  I take the time to gather myself in the gentle light and feel my breathe as she moves in and out of my body.  Most mornings, I stand barefoot on the Earth and close my eyes in order to heighten my other senses....to embrace the awakening energy around me and listen to what I need from this day.  This simple 10 to 15 minutes, every morning, creates an undercurrent of inner stillness & calm throughout my day.  Even on the days that I wake past the sunrise, I still honor this morning ritual so that my energy is focused in a loving and creative way.

My little man and I honor the ending of the day by watching the blue sky change to magical colors and share what we are grateful for.  This helps us to remember what is truly important in our lives and give thanks for how blessed we are.  On the days when it's raining or we've missed the sunset, we say good night to the sun and welcome the moon & stars as we talk about what wonderful things happened that day or where we may need to be more mindful.   These small moments nurture our abundant mindsets and support our embodied intentions of living a slow life.

I would love to hear about your favorite sunrise or sunset practices...

27 degrees this morning in SW PA ... and the first snowflakes of the season at 8am ... I admit I'm not ready for winter ... yet I got out in it with my "boys," our 2 rescue dogs ... the chill was enlivening, while the moments of sun were brilliant & joy-inducing. I'm preparing my Self for winter, one sunrise/sunset at a time =). Thanks for your post =) ...
